Creating Connections in a Time of Crisis
Everyone has someone. Someone in his or her life who has faced a scary diagnosis or who is helping an aging parent. We want to be supportive but often get stuck. We say the wrong things or we say nothing at all.
Creating Connections in a Time of Crisis is a presentation of six effective ideas for how to support a friend or family member in a time of adversity: health issues, aging parents, or personal struggles.
Built on the insights of Firefly Sisterhood’s mentors and mentees, current research and experience, the presentation shares ways to help friends and family through painful experiences. Using tools developed by Firefly Sisterhood to train over 175 peer mentors, audiences will find value both personally and/or professionally.
Kris Newcomer is the Executive Director of Firefly Sisterhood. Firefly Sisterhood, a community based nonprofit that matches women facing breast cancer with a supportive survivor.
